I’m amazed at how much my life has changed since I began my journey into discovering raw foods. 10 years ago I was completely addicted to refined sugar; mainly in the form of candy…my family can attest to this. A raspberry would never have appealed to me unless it was covered in chocolate. Since I’ve allowed my body to cleanse from the chemicals, processed foods, and refined sugars…my whole palate sings to a different tune! Now when I eat a simple raspberry, it’s like an explosion of flavor filled with complexity! I never would have imagined myself craving simple, raw fruits, veggies, nuts, and/or seeds. I even crave…(gulp!)… kale! I remember reading a Victoria Bouteynko book where she talked about salivating over greens…and thinking “this woman is absolutely out of her mind”. Alas, I, too must be out of my mind…and it sure does feel good!
One of keys to making my transition to raw foods a success has been the use of my Vitamix! Anyone reading this who owns one knows exactly what I’m talking about…it simply makes food preparation…well, simple. I highly recommend watching one of the informative videos on their website; http://www.vitamix.com. The warranty, customer support, and machine itself are all phenomenal! I must say, 10 years raw is a long time. I have been 100% raw now for 7 months, with no cheating. I have shed 36 lbs, and I am feeling better than I have ever felt in my life. Congratulations to you on your successful, edible journey, and keep shining ❤

Jimmi, I wish I could say I’ve been raw 10 years! Actually, I’ve been at least 50% raw for over 3 yrs, and about 95% for the last year. I was saying 10 yrs ago I was addicted to refined sugar. 🙂 Thank you for reading my blog! ~Blessings!

Got a chance to glance through your blog……great job young lady. I have a friend that’s diabetic but he doesn’t believe that diabetes is curable ,:( I wish our society wasn’t so brainwashed. Anways, I’ve lost about 12 lbs since July doing vegetable juice fasting and staying away from dead food. I feel so much better and have more energy than I know what to do with. I love God and I love his food and medicine!

Dion, you should have your friend watch this documentary – it will definitely change his mind! I’m so glad you’re taking charge of your own health – you’re awesome!

Yes Holly, we can remember you as a teen always with a bag of candy. Now you are an inspiration and a role model – I am so proud to have you as my niece. P.S. can I claim to have been on to something that time I hid your ice-ream cone behind my back?
Love you,
Aunt Slo

I saw the documentary on “Reversing Diabetes” and thought it was well done and enjoyable, as well as informative. Highly recommend it. Holly, you have been so good for our family. You have really opened our eyes and taught us a lot. I agree with Dion about our society being brainwashed about nutrition and health. I eat out a lot and it is hard to find healthy items on the menus.
Holly, do you know if the sweetener Purevia is as good as Stevia?
Thanks a million, Holly!

Hi, Aunt Les! I checked out the Purevia website and see that they are “partners” with Pepsi Co which immediately throws a red flag for me. It does look like it’s extracted from the stevia plant, but they also say “other added natural flavors” which could mean MSG (monosodium glutamate). (Yes, the food industry lobbied Congress to allow MSG to be hidden in “natural flavors”.) By the way, if you want to really understand what is going on with the food industry, watch Food Inc. I believe every American with the ability to reason needs to see it. The implications are huge.

Good Job H.D.!!!! You are a real inspiration to all of us. Hard to believe that the child who took inventory of her Halloween candy is now taking
inventory of her health!!! Keep up the good work!
